I was introduced to philosophy by my piano teacher, whose interests in Marxism and the debunking of paranormal and pseudoscientific claims gave me an early appreciation for the power of the critical use of reason. After studying post-Kantian European philosophy at the University of Essex, growing interests in Hinduism and the work of Stanley Cavell, took me from a Commonwealth Scholarship at Jadavpur University in India, then to SOAS, and finally to the University of Warwick where I completed a PhD on Emersonian moral perfectionism funded by the British Academy. Before joining ���ֶ���Ƶ, I taught at the University of Cambridge, the University of East Anglia, and Oxford Brookes University.

Teaching

I teach first year Moral Philosophy, and the FHS papers in Ethics, Aesthetics, and Post-Kantian Philosophy.

Research Interests

My primary research interests are in the work of Stanley Cavell, ethics, phenomenology and existentialism, and the philosophies of film, literature and religion.
