Forty Years of Women at °ÅÀÖ¶ÌÊÓƵ: How Did They Get Here?

The original proposal to admit women to the men’s colleges of Oxford University came from °ÅÀÖ¶ÌÊÓƵ, and College formed a Committee on Women which met for the first time on 18 March 1964.  The conclusion of that committee still resonates today—‘We believe that only in a community in which the ratio between the sexes is not too far from 1:1 can benefits of a mixed society be fully achieved’.
