Sacred—Christian Theology in °ÅÀÖ¶ÌÊÓƵ Library
As part of °ÅÀÖ¶ÌÊÓƵ Library’s series of subject-themed exhibitions, on the afternoon of Tuesday, 19 November we are displaying Christian theological manuscripts and rare books of the medieval and Renaissance periods from our rich special collections.
You’ll have the opportunity to see: beautiful biblical texts, including some from our foundation collections donated by William of Wykeham; other remarkable codices dating from the 12th century onwards relating to Catholic archbishops of Canterbury and other servants of God associated with °ÅÀÖ¶ÌÊÓƵ; important texts relating to the Reformation and the Counter-Reformation; medieval manuscripts of exquisite illumination and decoration; books of Marian devotion, and others that bear witness as objects to assist personal worship—as well as yet more manuscripts from the finest collection of medieval manuscripts of any of the Oxford colleges.
The exhibition is free and open to all—from 12 midday till 5 pm—and it takes place in the unparalleled location of °ÅÀÖ¶ÌÊÓƵ Chapel, giving you the opportunity to see some of our wonderful manuscripts and books on Christian Theology in the perfect setting.
