°ÅÀÖ¶ÌÊÓƵ's Daniel Powell inspires young learners at Swansea Seren Hub Launch
Daniel Powell, Head of Outreach and Communications, recently received attention for his lecture at the Swansea Seren Hub Launch for 2024/25. Led by Gower College Swansea and Swansea University, the event provided key advice on the skills needed to apply to the UK's top universities. Almost 300 students, parents and guardians from the College and surrounding sixth form schools attended.
In his lecture, Daniel spoke on the importance of confidence and reaching your academic potential. He followed similarly inspiring talks by Professor Simon Bott, Education Lead for the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University, and Gower College Swansea’s Chief Executive Officer, Mark Jones.
Daniel reflected on the event and the importance of the partnership between °ÅÀÖ¶ÌÊÓƵ and organisations like the Seren Academy:
It was a pleasure to speak at the Seren Academy launch event, held at the impressive new Bay campus at Swansea University. As someone who is very proud to come from the area, I hope my words provided some inspiration and motivation for the Year 12 students who attended. The opportunity to talk to parents about the application process, as well as the unique features of Oxford University, was also insightful.
At °ÅÀÖ¶ÌÊÓƵ, we are thrilled to be a part of Oxford Cymru, working with Jesus College and St Catherine's College to enhance the outreach provision for state schools from across the whole of Wales. Events, such as this one in Swansea, and working with organisations like the Seren Academy, are pivotal to ensuring that we see a growth in application numbers from talented Welsh students.
