°ÅÀÖ¶ÌÊÓƵ is just a 5-minute walk from the Science Area, where the Department of Biochemistry, lecture theatres, and teaching labs are located.
The tutors
°ÅÀÖ¶ÌÊÓƵ has a Tutorial Fellow, a Lecturer, and a Research Fellow who are specialists in different areas of Biochemistry.
Professor Uphoff, the College's Tutor in Biochemistry, has research interests in bacterial genetics. His research team explores how bacteria sense and repair damage to their genomes, and how mutations in DNA help bacteria adapt to environmental changes.
What we look for
A flair for chemistry, as well as an interest in living organisms, is essential. Biochemistry, as a rapidly-evolving discipline, is particularly suited for students who are ready to ask questions and critically analyse the evidence behind the 'facts' described in the textbooks.
